The queens I am producing this year comes from my highest scoring UBeeO assayed breeder VSH queens. UBeeO testing is a new process that determines how much of the varrao sensitive hygenic trait is being expressed in the hive. This hygenic trait is passed down from the queen to the other bees in the hive (queens,workers and drones). The higher the percentage of expression in the hive the better the score is.
The queens I'm breeding from come from Cory Stevens' breeder queens that have been open mated with drones from North Carolina. This provides a greater genetically diversified queen that express the VSH trait with the genetic diversity from North Carolina. Additionally, I'm selecting my breeders based, not only on hygenic scoring (highest score on UBeeO assay), but also the hive's temperment and how well it builds up.
Queens can be purchased either as virgins or mated, marked or unmarked.
